Silverado EV

By Doug Clayton, EVGrok Staff Writer

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV is a full-size electric pickup truck built from the ground up on General Motors' dedicated Ultium architecture. Unlike traditional body-on-frame trucks, it utilizes a structural battery pack that enhances rigidity and ride quality while maximizing interior space. The vehicle features a fully independent front and rear suspension, with available adaptive air suspension on higher trims that can raise or lower the vehicle by up to two inches for improved aerodynamics or ground clearance.

Performance is delivered through a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that produces up to 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque in the RST trim when utilizing the Wide Open Watts (WOW) launch mode. This allows the heavy truck to accelerate from zero to sixty in just 4.5 seconds. The Silverado EV also maintains serious truck credentials, offering up to 10,000 pounds of maximum towing capacity and a payload capacity of up to 1,440 pounds, depending on the specific trim and configuration.

Equipped with an 800-volt electrical architecture, the Silverado EV supports DC fast charging speeds up to 350 kW, enabling it to add approximately 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. The massive 200 kWh battery pack provides an impressive EPA-estimated range of up to 460 miles on a single charge. Additionally, the truck features bidirectional charging capabilities, allowing it to power tools at a job site, charge another electric vehicle, or provide backup power to a home during an outage.

The interior is highly functional and tech-forward, highlighted by a 17-inch diagonal LCD freeform infotainment screen and an 11-inch diagonal driver instrument display. One of its most innovative features is the Multi-Flex Midgate, which allows the rear seats to fold down and the rear cabin wall to open, expanding the 5-foot-11-inch bed to accommodate items over 10 feet long. A spacious eTrunk under the hood provides an additional 10.7 cubic feet of lockable, weatherproof storage.
