The 2026 Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology represents the electric evolution of the brand's most recognizable off-roader. Built on a modified ladder-frame chassis, it integrates a massive 116-kWh battery pack into the floor, protected by a highly durable carbon-composite skid plate. Power is delivered through four individually controlled electric motors—one at each wheel—producing a combined 579 horsepower and a staggering 859 lb-ft of torque. This quad-motor architecture enables unique off-road maneuvers, including the G-Turn, which allows the vehicle to rotate in place on loose surfaces.

Despite its aerodynamic challenges, the electric G-Class manages its energy through advanced thermal management and a selectable low-range gear reduction for serious rock crawling. The suspension utilizes an independent double-wishbone front setup and a solid rear axle, maintaining the rugged articulation expected from a G-Wagon. Drivers can utilize the G-Roar sound experience to simulate a combustion engine's presence, while the intelligent off-road crawl function acts as a low-speed cruise control for traversing difficult terrain.

Inside, the G 580 retains the luxurious, upright cabin of its internal combustion siblings, featuring the MBUX infotainment system with dual 12.3-inch displays.
